We were ordered to bring out on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, the young women and the menstruating women to participate in the goodness and supplicants of the Muslims, but the menstruating would refrain from prayers. (Bukhari, Muslim.)
The Sermon: After Eid prayers, there is a sermon, or Khutbah, that one must listen to. A sermon is public preaching to the Muslims. Ibn' Umer (May Allah be pleased with him) said:
"The prophet PBUH, Abu Bakr, and Umer used to offer prayers before delivering the Khutbah.
Sunnah Acts: It is stated in numerous hadiths that there are three Sunnah acts to be done on Eid-ul0Fitr, one is to take a bath, second is to walk to the prayer place or the mosque, and the third one is to eat before going out for the Eid prayers. Eating on the day of Eid: The Holy Prophet PBUH used to eat some dates before going out for Eid prayers, this puts emphasis on the fact that fasting on the day of Eid is haram.
Takbeerat: This is one of the greatest Sunnah of the Holy Prophet PBUH because Allah also mentioned in the Qur'an:
"(He wants you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah (i.e. to say Takbeer; Allaahu Akbar 'Allah is the Greatest') for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him. (Al-Baqarah, 2:185).
The time for Takbeer starts from the night before Eid, until the Imam enters the mosque to lead the prayers.
